Indonesia's culture is so rich and diverse. One of them are the folklore. Indonesia has various folklore such as Malin Kundang, Danau Toba, Buleleng, Woiram, and etc. Malin Kundang (also called Si Tanggang and Nakhoda Manis) is a folktale about retribution on an ungrateful son. A sailor from a poor family, the protagonist voyages to seek his fortune, becoming rich and marrying a princess. On his return to his home village, he is ashamed of his humble origins and refuses to recognise his elderly mother. She curses him, and when he sets sail, he and his ship are turned to stone. Buleleng Kingdom in Bali was established by I Gusti Gede Paseken, the son of King Sri Sagening of Klungkung Kingdom. When he was 20, his father sent him to a place named Den Bukit, where his grandmother came from. On his journey he was involved in some magical experiences. A forest-guard giant showed up and told him that he would be a king one day. When he came to shore, surprisingly he lifted a stranded ship of a Bugis sailor. Being grateful, the Bugis sailor rewarded him all the ship's load which made him instanly a rich man. With that treasure he built a glorious palace in Den Bukit. The palace was called Singa Raja, meaning the strong and brave king like a lion. In the area of Den Bukit grew many trees called "Buleleng", from which the Kingdom of Buleleng derived its name.
