Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen (Arabic: al-Jumhuuriyya al-Yamaniyya) is an Arab country located on the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia. Yemen has an estimated population of more than 23 million people and the only republic on the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen is a culturally rich country with influence from many civilizations, such as the early civilization of Sheba.

The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, Democratic Yemen, South Yemen or Yemen (Aden) was a socialist republic in present-day southern and eastern Provinces of Yemen. It united with the Yemen Arab Republic, commonly known as North Yemen, on May 22, 1990 to form the current Republic of Yemen.
